Samsung Electronics Improves Viewing Experience with New Eco-Friendly LED Monitors


Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the number one worldwide brand for display products, is continuing to evolve LED monitor technology by offering environmentally-friendly monitors with better viewing angles and eye-catching designs with the release of its 50 and 30 series LED monitors.

Before developing its latest LED monitors, Samsung consumers identified three key areas that would benefit consumer needs – eco-friendliness, design and viewing experience. Samsung addressed these mandates in the following ways:

§ Eco-friendly LED backlight: The 50 and 30 series LED monitors highlight Samsung’s commitment to putting the PlanetFirst™. Unlike conventional monitors, LED-backlit displays contain few or no environmentally hazardous substances, such as mercury or lead, and use about 40 percent less energy. Samsung’s Touch of Color (ToC) technology doesn’t use paints, sprays or glues, ensuring they contain no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), making recycling simpler and safer.

Samsung’s Magic Eco feature allows users to adjust a monitor’s brightness based on different energy consumption levels with four preset energy-saving options to choose from: 100 percent, 75 percent, 50 percent, and Power-Saving Off. Additionally, the 50 and 30 series monitors meet international energy standards including Energy Star 5.0 and China’s Energy Level 1 grade (50 series), proving themselves eco-friendly products.

§ Sleek and slim design: Both the 50 and 30 series introduce new, sleek designs that set them apart from previous design trends. Both have adopted Samsung’s trademark ToC technology, reducing monitor thickness dramatically. The 50 series employs a Charcoal gray ToC design, a stand with a chrome finish and a delicate wave back-pattern. The 30 series differentiates itself with its Mystic Brown ToC design, a color not commonly found in conventional monitors, which is reminiscent of rich, handcrafted chocolate. These products truly deliver on Samsung’s design philosophy that consumer electronics should resemble pieces of art that help tie a room together.

§ The most comfortable viewing experience: Samsung’s new 50 and 30 series LED monitors support Samsung’s proprietary Magic Angle feature to reduce eye strain and ensure that images are centered when viewed from any angle. This eliminates distortion and provides the best viewing angle whether standing, sitting, or even lying down. Consumers can also enjoy vivid, dynamic images thanks to the Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio, ultra-fast response time of 2ms, FHD resolution, and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Also unique to the 50 series is a new feature called Magic Return. When users are working with two monitors, Magic Return automatically moves content from a screen that is abruptly turned off to the screen that is still on, enabling content to be accessed even if one of the monitors gets disconnected, or shuts off.

Samsung Electronics Launches the World’s First LED Large Format Display

The company leads the next-generation large format information display market with world’s thinnest and first eco-friendly models

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a market leader and award-wining innovator in consumer electronics, has launched the world’s first eco-friendly and large format information display (LFD) incorporating LED backlighting technology. Samsung is introducing the EX series which is the world’s thinnest LFD suitable for showing large advertisements, and is available in 40-inch, 46-inch and 55-inch models, and also has the option of a built-in PC. The series are the result of the display market leader’s ambitious project to become the world’s first to launch LED LFD.

The new LED LFDs are much better than conventional LCD displays in terms of electricity consumption, design, image quality and efficiency, and they are expected to significantly change the landscape of the advertising display market.

In addition, the option of a built-in PC eliminates the need to purchase an additional PC, resulting in higher efficiency and less maintenance cost.

The EX series also boast extreme thinness and lightness, which make them much easier to use. They are 35-to-40 percent lighter than other large information displays of the same size at about 15 kg (based on 46-inch), differentiating themselves from the conventional heavy and thick advertising displays. Unlike the existing displays that take several people to install, the newest series can be installed conveniently and quickly.

In addition, the EX series features a 120 Hz panel refresh rate. This advanced technology enables faster image changes without motion blur, which deliver clearer advertising messages to the audience. The 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolutions and the high contrast ratio provide true-to-life picture quality. Magicinfo i, Samsung’s proprietary content management solution also allows you to control several displays easily by connecting them to a network.

Samsung has set the EX series apart by applying advanced technologies, which have not been used in conventional large displays, but provide a better user experience. The RJ45 port enables you to control the displays through a LAN cable wherever you are. The smart scheduling function, allows you to turn on and off the display, adjust the volume and set input sources by simply using the OSD.

The self‑timer function of the original 2View cameras perfected the group shot because it displayed a preview of the image and a visual countdown timer in the front LCD screen, giving everyone in front of the camera an indication of exactly when the photo would be taken.

The new Samsung 2View PL150 and PL100 come fully equipped with a true colour-filtered 12.2 mega-pixel CCD, providing sharp and detailed images. Whether taking pictures indoors or out, shooting a landscape or friends around a table, the PL150’s 5x optical zoom, 27mm-wide angle lens gives you a wider shooting range from a shorter distance.

Smart Auto (Still & Movie) analyzes key elements of the composition of the image such as color, brightness, motion and subject and then selects the appropriate scene mode which will produce the best results possible. Similar to the way the technology analyses the composition of an image when capturing digital stills, the technology will do the same for video, automatically choosing between one of four pre-programmed settings and selecting that which will yield the best footage with proper exposure and color balance.

Samsung TV won Russia’s “Product of the Year” award for the second consecutive year

Samsung Full HD 3D LED TV won Russia’s the “Product of the Year” award. Having won the award for the second consecutive year, with LED TV last year and with Full HD 3D LED TV this year, Samsung is enjoying great popularity in the Russian market.

Samsung Electronics announced lately that Full HD 3D LED TV 8000 series and the world’s first 3D Blu-ray player, BD-C6900 were chosen as the Best 3D Solution in Russia’s “Best Product of the Year” award.

“Product of the Year” is the award given to the best products in Russia since 2004. An evaluation team consisting of editors of electronic device magazines and industry experts has tested products and carefully chosen the best product during “PHOTOFORUM and HDI SHOW”, Russia’s largest electronics exhibition.

Backed by high popularity in the Russian TV market, Samsung’s market share continued to grow from 33.9% in January, to 34.7% in February and to 36.4% in April, maintaining its No. 1 position in the Russian TV market.

Also, in the Indian TV market, another emerging market where flat panel TV market is growing at a rapid pace, Samsung 3D TV is making a splash while winning numerous awards.

Samsung Full HD 3D LED TV 7000 series won the “Best Gadget of the Year” and the “Best TV Product of the Year” awards from NDTV Tech Life Awards hosted by India’s NDTV.

NDTV, India’s No. 1 news channel founded in 1988 chose the best products among consumer electronics, IT, communications devices in 15 categories. Through strict and impartial evaluation and online voting by the general public, NDTV chose the best of the best among 15 selected products and awarded the “Best Gadget of the Year” to the winner.

Samsung Full HD 3D LED TV 7000 series, this year’s winner of NDTV Tech Life Awards gained high scores for its ultra slim premium design, vivid 3D stereoscopic image and 2D to 3D conversion feature.
