The OS runs with lightning-fast speeds on theS5PC111 1-Ghz processor, which deliverssmooth transitions, crisp graphics and improved multitasking capabilities.
The Galaxy S immerses users in a world of rich multimedia. Samsung Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced the release of its Q-Series range of notebooks, the Q530, Q430 and Q330.

Samsung Electronics Captures Five 2010 IDEA Awards

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, has been honored with five awards in the prestigious 2010 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition.

The IDEA competition is a celebration of the most innovative and exciting product designs and design concepts and focuses on sustainability, attention to detail and price point. Since 2006, Samsung has won the highest total of IDEA awards among its industry peers; a testament to the company’s commitment to excellent design. Samsung’s 2010 awards, which include two coveted gold awards, were announced by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) on June 23.

Samsung’s awards in 2010 include:
Gold: G Series External Hard Drive - The first in the external hard drive industry to be halogen-free, inside and out, for RoHS compliance.
Gold: Virus Doctor 2010 - Unique patented technology has resulted in the creation of this personal ion generator that removes harmful bacteria, including bacteria that generate odor, in addition to viruses.
Silver: LED 9000 Series – A new premium category of flat-panel TVs, with a depth of 0.3 inches and an environmentally-friendly design.
Bronze: Mobile Book – A design study aimed to investigate and find solutions to the increasing divide between the elderly and digital technology.

Virus Doctor 2010 - Achieving the Essence of Design

Leading Samsung’s charge was the revolutionary Plasma Ionizer 'Virus Doctor 2010,' which improves indoor air quality and enhances consumers’ well-being. The Virus Doctor 2010, which took home a gold award this year, is a pleasant addition to the home that complements any interior furnishing and features a simple yet luxurious design with touch buttons and lighting in three different colors.

Ms. Sook-Young Park, designer of the Virus Doctor 2010, knew that the design of the product was as important as its functionality. She had been preoccupied with the 'essence' of how to deliver the invisible world to people as clearly as they could visualize something taking place in front of them. To inspire herself to take on this challenge and fight against the desire of adding additional design elements, Ms. Park removed all unnecessary decorations from her workspace, leaving only a single image to keep her mind free and focused on the design of the Virus Doctor 2010.

“I tried to achieve design perfection by finding a balance in what was already there without adding or removing any elements. This sounds simple, but it is the toughest goal to achieve amongst designers,” said Ms. Park. “All of my work focuses on how to get rid of unneeded design elements, so that people experience only the true essence of the product.”

The Virus Doctor 2010 works by leveraging SPi technology to generate activated hydrogen and oxygen ions which transform toxins from the air into harmless water vapor. SPi technology has been proven as the most effective purification technology, generating a far higher number of ions and covering a larger area of over 19.16m3 compared to other technologies. Its cleaning properties have been recognized by authentication authorities across the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea, while the Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul Toxicology Lab have certified SPi as safe and non-toxic for humans. The technology has also received more than 18 registered patents around the world, with over 65 more pending.
